Some IPA practice with Catalan!

Sometimes I get bored, so practising my IPA skills with Catalan always takes a lot of my time to make sure I have this all right and I still remind myself of the particularities associated with the phonological structure of that language. FUN! So, I’ll use the first paragraph of the Little Prince novel as sample text.

Quan tenia sis anys, una vegada vaig veure un dibuix magnífic en un llibre sobre la selva verge que es deia Històries viscudes. Representava una boa empassant-se una fera. Aquí teniu la còpia del dibuix.

Central Catalan: /kwän t̪ənjä siz äɲs | unə βəɣäðə bätʃ bɛwɾ‿un̪ d̪iβuʒ mäŋnifik ən uɲ λiβɾə soβɾə lə sɛɫβə βɛɾʒə k‿əz ðəjä istɔɾjəz βiskuðəs | rəpɾəzən̪t̪äβə unə βoä əmpəsänsə unə fɛɾə | əki t̪ənju lə kɔpjə ðəɫ̪ d̪iβuʃ/

Valencian Catalan: /kwan t̪enja siz aɲs | una veɣaː vatʃ vewɾ‿un̪ d̪iβuʒ maŋnifik en uɲ λiβɾe soβɾe la seɫva vɛɾtʃe k‿ez ðeja istɔɾjez viskuðes | repɾezen̪t̪aː una βoa empassantse una feɾa | aki tenju la kɔpja ðeɫ̪ d̪iβuʃ/

So, that’s all. If I am off, please don’t hesitate to let me know.
